A COMBINED CYCLE SEAWATER DESALINATION FACILITY FEATURES
ADVANCED COMBINED CYCLE TECHNOLOGIES WITH LOW OPERATING COST
Water, as a resource, is the most basic and fundamental component of life and yet only 1% of the earths water is fresh water. This 1% is all but inadequate to sustain present world populations and particularly in some geographic area of the world and high density populated areas, due in part to pollution and shortages of rainfall. Consider the following, a ton of steel requires over 40,000 gallons (182,000 litres) of water, a ton of aluminum requires 300,000 gallons (1,364,000 litres) of water, a ton of petrol from crude oil requires 20,000 gallons (91,000 litres) of water. Only 0.5% of potable water is actually used as drinking water while 99.5% is required for industrial use and economic expansion. Economic development is impossible without low cost water!
There are many large desalination plants in the world and the common thread is the high cost of producing each and every gallon of water. The RETA combined cycle process that interfaces to existing power generation systems makes use of several sources of waste energy to significantly decrease the cost of production of clean, drinkable potable water from sea water, brackish water or polluted fresh water.
The high efficiency MVCE/O proprietary combined cycle process, provides superior efficiency in combined cycle applications that is 2 to 3 times more efficient than others currently available today.
This efficient potable water process produces levels of purity (1 to 500 ppm tds.), equal to the highest quality of water in the world and can be followed by chlorination or ozonation for municipal services and best of all, the pure water product is produced with a minimum amount of spend energy, often 80% being recovered from waste or previously unrecoverable sources.
